I think it would be a very good idea to have a ladder meeting. Let's try for Sunday night at 9pm. I will set up an AOL chatroom called CASES GIN. We can discuss all of our alternatives there. I would also like to discuss our plans for Atlantic City. I sure would hate for that to fall through just because Worldplay is being uncooperative. Please let anyone from our ladder know about this meeting. I would hate to lose the family that we have made here.

New Plan: IF Worldplay is up, we can have our meeting in ME2. If it is not up, we will go with the alternative of the chat room. Thanks!! Hope to see you there!!

      Hi Char,
The meeting is a great idea, I would like to make a suggestion. The previous meetings I have been to are very disorderly with everyone speaking out of turn and about too many different subjects at one time, therefore not knowing who was talking about what or what subject. For me, that is very confusing. It sounds like we have to talk about the relocation of the group for playing Gin and keeping all of us together and also the trip to AC. These are two big items. My suggestion is for ONE person to run the meeting, that look like you MarieCPA1, if you are willing and to control it one subject at a time. When anyone wants to speak on that subject then they just type a question mark (?) which would tell you they have something to say on the same subject the group is talking about but to wait their turn for you to call them by name?
I think we would all benefit a lot more this way from any of our meetings and I am also open to anyone elses suggestions.
      hugs to e1,

Even if we were to survive here on Worldplay....

      Our ladder:

      1) needs OP's who particpate more on a daily basis and could witness all of the violations in person

2)Needs to get the rules modified and clarrified

3)Needs to do something about players who fake boots: A) to avoid a match B) to stop playing a match because they are losing

4)Needs Op's with a set of "balls" that will hand out penalties instead of looking the other way

I would like to think we would be able to survive on WorldPlay, too. However, just to clear some items, a response to DrunkonGin's statements:

        1) I'd love to participate more on a daily basis than I do now. I cannot speak for PennyD5660 (who is the only other LadderOp that is exclusively assigned to this ladder) but my real life duties managed to increase around the same time I volunteered to be an OP. There is also the need to handle complaints in the mail room which have to be handled within a certain time frame. If there was less complaining... For an additional suggestion, see what I have to suggest at the end of my responses.

        2) I agree, some rules should be clarified, but I have found the great majority of our members have no trouble interpreting the rules as they are written, once they actually read them.

        3) If you can absolutely prove someone is faking a boot, let us know. I don't disagree that this might occur, but as an Op I have to have proof to do anything.

        4) LOL, well, genetically, I have the, ah, package, that you are referring to. As for the slang reference, we all have that, too, but as LadderOps we also have rules that we must play by when administering our ladder. If we didn't follow them, you'd all be boxed and rung for every complaint we get. It would be a pretty empty game room pretty fast if we did that.

Finally, I do not at all dispute that you have decent ideas for rules and administering the ladder. If you, Drunk, or anyone else is interested in helping out, there is a rather simple solution: Apply to be a LadderOp for this ladder. This is the link to apply: http://cgi.igl.net/cgi-bin/ladder/ops/op_apply.cgi?svr=cgi1. From the Common Questions section on our Ladder web page, "If your application is approved, you will be put in the Voting Booth where members of your Ladder can vote for or against your becoming a LadderOp on that Ladder." If you are voted in by the members of the ladder, then you would undergo training to learn how to be an Op, 6 class sessions over 2-3 weeks. It includes tests and a final exam. It's the same way that all of us have become LadderOps.

Thanks for all your time, and I hope to be at the meeting Sunday evening.

        John, smoooooooooooooooches,
I BELIEVE THE ONLY REASON THAT CAPS UPSET ANYONE IS BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE IT IS YELLING. I ONLY LEARNED THIS IN THE MSN GAMING ZONE PLAYING SPADES AND CAPS ARE NOT ALLOWED BY ANY PLAYING MEMBER OR IT IS CONSIDERED YELLING AND YOU WOULD BE THROWN OUT OF TOURNAMENT. JUST A THOUGHT, NOT SURE IF THIS IS CASES PROBLEM OR NOT:
        HUGSSSSSS,

Rosie, I will set up the chat room and send IMs with the link to everyone that I have on my buddy list for our ladder. As I don't have everyone, please pass the link around once you get to the room, or give me names of anyone you see online. We will get everyone in and everyone will have a chance to say what they feel.
