Hello everyone,
I have just gotten up to speed with all these postings in the forum about this 15 second rule. Fist off I would like to say that as a TD I was never informed to insert this new rule into my tournaments. Second I am not certain on how a rule like this is introduced (I.E. a vote by the players, or a decision made by the HTD and the TD team). I am not trying to upset anyone regaurdless of how you may feel about it. I can understand the rule and how it can pertain to certain players, but I also know that it can hurt certain players as well, players who have dial up (like me ... lol) or another slow connection. As a player I wouldn't have a problem with this rule since I play fast anyway, that's the way I am. But as A TD I do believe it is my right to host tournaments the way i see fit. And as so far as I can tell slow play is not a problem. There is a rule about how long each round in a tournament is, I.E. 20 minutes for 100pt games, 30 minutes for 150-200pt games. If us as TD's can enforce this rule and call games even they are not completed, then I see no need for a per move time limit.
As it stands right now, the majority of the playes dislike this rule and will discontinue their tourney play here if it is enforced. And as a TD I want players to play, so therefore I WILL NOT inroduce this rule into my tourneys. I really hope that no one takes offense to this, but if I get in trouble then so be it, I will remove myself as a TD. We struggle to make tourneys happen right now, me personally, I am lucky to get 4 or 5 players since I have come back to hosting. The last thing I want to do run those players off. I not having that rule in my tourneys takes me off the TD team then I guess I just made a bad decision.
