A year and a half we still don't have any. Maybe it would increase the ladder if we started discussing suggestions for game-specific rules, putting in the voting booth and see what comes of it. What do you all think? Successful running ladders have these rules added to the generic rules. We have nil as you can see listed under our GSRs heading.

If they give the reasons that our ladder isn't active enough, well this might just be one of the reasons that keeps us with little activity. If we're active enough to have two ladder ops, aren't we active enough to start some game-specific rules suggestions and take it from there? Again, successful ladders all have them.

    Sincerely,
    Giovanna

Just have to watch that we dont spend all our time sorting out rules instead of playing.

Also the more rules you have the more liky hood of diffrent pepole interpreting them diffrent ways.

There is a old saying "If its not broken dont fix it".

So please think hard before getting new rules in the booth, as to the wording.

Part of the job of the Ladder Ops is to be sure everyone on a ladder interprets all the rules in a uniform manner, whether it is the standard rules for all ladders or for Game Specific Rules. Heck, I remember from my Op days that people had different ideas regarding the "nice guy" rules.

Nothing is really broken, I'll agree with that, but some GSR's could be useful. For example, are ladder matches only to be played in the Ladder Room, or can they be also played in the Tourney room? Granted, with the small level of ladder matches played, that may not be a good example, but you get the idea.

Finally, rule suggestions are not just tossed in the voting booth. All potential rules get discussed in an Op meeting before the Lead Op (which we don't have here) or the Op Manager (Hi, Nan) gets them into the voting booth. It's wrong to imply that no thought goes into them.

Players can play in either room but Cases would like them to use the auto report room that why its done auto and cant be open for anyone to say they didnt win or not. And to me that is really cool. But ladder match can be played in both of the rooms.

I agree with you thedogmans. I have seen some ladders that have so many GSR's that a new player can't possibly figure them all out. Even some of the veteran players have trouble with them.

I haven't seen a lot of complaints which would warrant the op team to think about clarifying the general rules with a GSR. However, I certainly do not object to any suggestions being tossed around in the forum for discussion.

The tourney tourney tourney mentality of this ladder and its staff is what keeps the ladder down with little activity. It's the same thing for over a year. We got a newsletter today and of course it only addressed tournaments lol ...What else is new? Players have left for good because they never saw enough ladder activity which is what many of them want including me but that's no secret. Many players left because of the nonsense tourneys that were hosted. These same players enjoy good ladder activity plus normal tournaments. This ladder never had the proper balance of both areas because the tourney mentality is all they seem to care about. I tried to build up regular ladder activity a few times now, but the td's come after you and beg you to join their tourney because they need one more. Without some game-specific rules like inactivity for Top Ten derunging like many successful ladders have and required games per day for the competitive nature of a ranking ladder, you will never (as you can see) build up this ladder's membership. At least the nonsense tourney games have been taken away for the most part but that's not enough. Successful ladders enjoy a nice balance of regular games and tourney games, both of which are fun and competitive. I've said this in the forum a few times now but nothing changes. I'm beginning to think staff and members are content?????

You say there aren't complaints. That's because there is barely any activity so there's nothing to complain about lol

Another says....if it's not broken, don't fix it.........sure it's not broken but it sure needs help for continuous survival.

Sure a few might come in here and reject my suggestions and ideas, but hey you think you have a good thing going still?

Still hoping for change around here at a great game site...such a waste......it might be too late.........but I'll keep hoping :)

I play a few diffrent game both on this site & on others, I remember the days that the cases euchre ladder on VU had well over 300 players on it & was common place to see 200 reports posted each day.

This was from both ladder games & tourneys, well a few started posting there where to many tourneys & not enough ladder games.
the tourney got cut down & hardly any are set these days.

The end resault a ladder the now has less then 50 who have played in the last year or so & in the last week or so has had a total of under 30 reports go in.

The way I add things up that meant they lost over 250 players & droped over 1300 reports a week just so there where less tourneys & more time for ladder games.

Is that saving a ladder & helping it to grow ?

You say that it needs more time for ladder matches, as I see it here there is more time for them by players than there is for tourenys, so I dont see the point of going on over the issue of the matter. If you want ladder matches go to the room that is auto report and the players will join you there. We like to give the players a choice not have them choice between a ladder match or a tourney.
              Thats my 2 cents worth.

I believe we've had this discussion before Giovanna. The newsletter is a feature on the tourney side of Case's. I do not have that tool so you won't be seeing newsletters from the op side. Sorry.

The general rules cover the inactivity of the Top Ten so I'm not sure what kind of GSR you feel is needed. I have seen many ladder thrive successfully without GSR's and have had a good balance of tourneys and ladder matches. I have also seen these same ladders put GSR's in place and now their ladder rooms are ghost towns. I'm not saying the GSR's caused it but I'm just trying to show the other side of the coin.

As I said before I do not object to any suggestions being tossed around in the forum for discussion. Be it on GSR's or suggestions on how to get more ladder matches and/or ladder members, all are welcome.
