We would like your input on changing the loss of rungs, due to inactivity, from 1 day, to either 2 days or possibly 3. Most of the other leagues are at 2 days. This would be helpful when tournaments are canceled due to not enough players. Please let us know your thoughts on this matter, from no change, change to 2 days or change to 3.

I would vote to change it to 48 hours. Today is a perfect example in that there was no tourney last night and the No. 1 person and others lost rungs and I was moved to 1st. I think the people that still play on this ladder play as often as they can and maybe most don't care if they are No. 1 or not (I don't care if I am No. 1 or No. 10.) But in the interest of fairness, is it right to miss one day, whether it is because of "no tourney" at your given playing time or maybe a family obligation, that you lose rungs? I could be wrong but I thought it was originally changed to one day because if someone made it to No. 1 years ago, they would sit on it so they could play in the tourney held once a week for the top four to play in. I personally would rather make it to No. 1 by winning the spot rather than have it handed to me. Just my thoughts.

I am not sure what will be achieved by changing how the rung works as I can't see how it either favours or discriminates the way it is. I wonder if favour/discrimination will be the result of changing it. This was suggested because some tournaments have needed to be cancelled due to lack of participation. Changing how the rungs work feels a bit like re-arranging deck chairs on the titanic. The ice-berg is that we are not actively attracting new players and those that we do have apparently do not like coming in to play tournaments that take too long. When I come in to play 1 or 2 tournaments, I do not have a stop watch going on the side to time them.
Recently I suggested a change to Dealer's Choice by making it not STD and the consensus was that it took too long. We can play 3 variations of regular - regular, STD regular and No Loners regular. Now because of a time constraint we can only play Dealer's Choice as STD or not at all. I know there will be some players who look at me and wonder why the new kid on the block is buying into this argument. It was only because of a few things in my personal life, loss of 2 brothers, caring for my mother and then losing my mother that I was unable to get in to play. The financial constraints meant I could not continue my premium membership and I was purged. I actually joined Yeuchre in 2014. Not sure why but just thought that maybe that needed to be clarified.

My thoughts on Dealer's Choice, was it not being std took too much time, which is does take more with no stick, but that it took away the aspect of hmmm is that a gut call or a real call. Everyone just played a little different. It kind of took the "dare" out of it.

:I don't see the point in changing this rule except for the fact that we all get runged for not playing even though quite often its because we couldn't get a tourney off the ground for want of enough players. I guess we are lucky that it is rare that we don't even have a tourney to register into. I have been trying to play in both am and pm tours just to avoid being runged however that isn't always a solution either. The rule was meant to stimulate ladder play by penalising the top 10 if they didn't play every day however when every active player is in the top 10 it defeats the purpose doesn't it!

I am certainly not against this, but I think we need to hear from more of the members to see what everyone thinks about this.

Something for you to consider in this discussion:

In our rules on inactivity - 1 day means 24 hours. So 2 days would be 48 hours; 3 days would be 72 hours. The rule on inactivity occurs on all of the Case's Ladders - with the same interpretation on what a day is. Some of our Ladders have 2 days, some have 3 days. The number of days is something the players in the Ladder can affect. The fact of the inactivity rule is not something players can affect.

If you all want our Ladder to change from 1 day to 2 or 3 days it would require a vote by all members of the Ladder. Someone would need to send in a support mail so the Senior Staff can consider this prior to any sort of vote (if there was to be a vote).

Please discuss this here in the message forum so all of the members can share in your thoughts.
