Tourney Games / Request for Time Limits on Games View

We had a great turnout for the New Years Tourneys .... and had a new member draggon aka Ian ... welcome Ian .... there was a conversation about having a limit in tourney games to keep things moving along .... when we first arrived at GS games took quite a while ... about 2 months in they were pretty reasonable in length .... having a time limit to games may be of benefit ... time limits mentioned were 10 minutes and 15 minutes ...both are reasonable ... 10 minutes encourages 3 rds in 30 minutes ... 15 minutes 2 rds ... although the limit would be the upper limit and most rds are usually done under 10 minutes lately .... pls add your comments and we should be able to reach a reasonable decision .... as a League I would like to see fair game play in a congenial stmosphere .... unreasonable delay should be avoided but unreasonable pressure in a game is also undesirable ... a fair time limit would have the advantage of allowing both ...if a game is delayed beyond the limit ...TD joins game ...and leader in game at that point is declared winner ....

  Mike/gandolf added these comments to the FaceBook post .... most games are about 10 mins in length. If you subtract the 8 mins allowed for someone to show up that only gives you 2 mins to finish play and the is IMPOSSIBLE!!! And even a 15 min time frame would only leave you 7 mins to play in, again next to impossible.
  I responded ....Bert Langlois .... good points Mike ....generally play has been reasonable in Soc7 ... occasionally there is a bit more of a delay ... I had liked the idea of a set time frame as it would allow people to play at their own pace .. at the expiration of a set time frame TD would attend table ....high score declared winner (altho I figured if game nearly done just allow it to naturally finish) and proceed to next round .... that way players not being nagged to hurry up and other players not waiting extended time for next round .... general consensus so far has been away from set time so will probably just keep rules as they are ....

  FaceBook Poll has been created ...if you are not on FB poll options .... 1/ 10 minute duration timed from announcement of Rd Pairings ..... 2/ 15 minute duration timed as above .... 3/ No set duration TD decides is game play extended beyond reasonable time frame ... let me know any other options for consideration .... as always if you are on FB and wish to be added ...let us know ... happy to add members ....
