MyLeague has one of the simplest ranking systems ever used for competitive play. The concept was adopted from the ranking system used on the official Case's Ladders. We call it a "Ladder" because each member holds a unique rank or "rung" that represents their standing among other members. The highest-ranked member holds the #1 Ladder position; for example, someone ranked #2 is ranked below the #1 member. The goal is to "climb" the Ladder all the way to the top!
- When you first join, you are placed in an "Unranked" category on the League.
- You become "Ranked" after winning your first League match. (Unranked members may play each other, and the winner becomes ranked at the bottom of the League.)
-
When you defeat a higher-ranked member, you move up in rank
50% the distance between their rank and
your own.
- Example: If you are ranked #50 and you beat the #1 ranked member, then your new rank would be 25.
-
Your rank on the League does not go down if you lose a match
unless your opponent is ranked DIRECTLY below you.
- Example: If you are ranked #5 and the #6 ranked member defeats you, then your new rank would be #6.
-
When members ranked below you are victorious against members
ranked above you, it's possible the member will jump over you in
rank and you will move down one rung. This depends on the ranks
involved.
- Example(per 50% rank gain): You are currently ranked #7. If the #10 ranked member defeats the #1 ranked member, then #10 will advance to the #5 rung and you will fall to the #8 rung.

Challenges
Note: Please consult the Admin staff regarding whether or not League challenges are permitted for this League.
A challenge is defined as a request for a match with a higher-ranked member. Whether you are the challenger or the one being challenged, there are some rules that must be followed. Violating these rules may result in penalties. If you notice anyone violating these rules, please contact the Admin staff.
-
Chat
- The best way to find League matches is to announce in chat that you are looking for a League match so that other members will know you are interested in League-play. You can also directly challenge a specific member in chat.
-
Formal Challenges
- Most Leagues permit the use of Formal Challenges. A complete overview of the Formal Challenge system can be found here.
-
2 time(s) Per Day
- You may play the same member 2 time(s) per day. However, you may play as many different members as you would like on any given day. A "MyLeague" day begins at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time.
-
Verify Information
- We recommend you ensure a potential opponent is also a member of the League before starting your match. You can do this very easily by searching for your opponent using the 'Search for Players' tool.
Playing a Match
Once you are ready to start playing a League match, there are some guidelines governing game play that you should keep in mind.
-
Opponents
- You are not allowed to report losses to another member that also plays from the same computer as you. Our security software will detect this activity if it is attempted, and participating accounts may be penalized or removed.
-
Sportsmanship
- The same rules that apply to behavior in chat (covered in a later section) also apply during matches.
Reporting the Match
Once your match is completed, the loser of the match is responsible for reporting the loss immediately. You can report your matches using the 'Report Loss' button located on the 'Standings' tab. Please note the 'Report Loss' link should only be used for League matches and not for tournament matches; you should consult the TD with any questions regarding reporting tournament matches. If you have any problems reporting a loss, you should contact the Admin staff and request assistance.
-
Reporting the Loss
- In one-on-one matches, the loser of the match reports the loss to the winner.
- In partner matches, each member of the losing team reports a loss to both partners of the winning team. At the end of the match, you would either gain two wins or report two losses.
- In "free for all" matches (matches in which multiple opponents are competing against each other without partners), each loser of the match must report a loss to one overall winner.
- When playing matches with more than one opponent, it is important for losses to be reported in the proper order if rank will be affected by the order of report. You must report to the better-ranked opponent first in those cases. It is your responsibility to make sure you report in the correct order when necessary. Not doing so may result in penalty.
-
Unreported Matches
- If your opponent does not report their loss within one hour after completing the match or prior to starting another match, you should click on the "Contact Admin" link and then use the "Unreported Match" form.
Tournaments
The rules for a Tournament are determined by the Tournament Director hosting the event. You will find a summary of each individual Tournament, including a Rules page, if you follow the link for that specific Tournament.
League-Specific Rules
BEGIN SOCIAL 7 LADDER GAME SPECIFIC RULES
Social 7 ladder has one of the simplest ranking s ever used for competitive play. We call it a "Ladder" because each player has a unique rank or "rung" that represents their standing among other players. The highest ranked player holds the #1 position. Someone ranked #2 is ranked below the #1 player. So, the goal is to "climb" the Ladder all the way to the top.
When you first join you are placed in the "Unranked" category of the Ladder.
You become "Ranked" after winning your first Ladder match. (Unranked users can play each other and the winner becomes ranked at the bottom of the ladder.)
When you defeat a higher ranked player you move up half the distance between their rank and your own. Example Your rank on the Ladder does not go down if you lose a match unless your opponent is ranked DIRECTLY below you.
Example When other players beat people above you and jump over you in rank you will slide down.
Some special rules exist for players ranked in the Top five. These rules will be covered in a later section.
If your E-mail address is found to be invalid your account can be penalized.
If you have manipulated your Yahoo game rating (wins) that can be seen on your playing profile, you will be told to make a new Yahoo ID that does not have any manipulation. If you refuse, your account could be removed. We will not tolerate any type of gaming manipulation or falsifying of records on this ladder.
You are only allowed to change your Ladder name every 7 days.
Your Ladder name must match the name you use in the gaming room (Yahoo ID) and play your matches under exactly. This includes spaces, underscores and other keyboard characters. If it doesn't the match is invalid and your opponent is not required to report any losses to you. It is under the TD's discretion if a player cannot play under there regular name because of computer problems. The td will make the final decision as to whether they can play in another name
Players should never report a loss to a name that is different than the one their opponent used during the match.
It is illegal for one person to have multiple accounts. Only ONE account is allowed per person, PERIOD.
It is illegal for more than one person to use or share the same account. You are more than welcome to each participate in the Ladder, but you will have to create separate accounts for each individual playing with a valid Yahoo ID and address..
When you are in a gaming room trying to find a match you should be courteous and respectful to other people in the room. Repeatedly asking for a Ladder game tends to annoy people very quickly. This could make them not want to play you, and make it harder for YOU to move up the Ladder.
It is illegal to play in more than one game or match at a time. This slows down game play for everyone. This rule includes playing any two games at once. (ladder or social game).
Example: Although it does not happen often it is possible that you or your opponent may be disconnected from the game or the Internet entirely before your match is finished. If one player was clearly losing at the time of disconnect then that person should be a good sport and report the loss. If there was no clear winner at that point in the match and it is not a game that allows you to continue then a rematch would be suggested. For more information regarding the proper procedures in the event of a disconnect please visit our FAQ.
If one or more users in a 2vs2 match leaves or get booted in a tournament, a substitute player can be selected to finish playing that for the person(s) who disconnected. The person who left the match is only required to report losses to his/her opponents if they left voluntarily or were already clearly going to lose at the time they lost connection in a regular match (non-tournament).
You are not allowed to report losses to anyone who plays from the same computer as you do…ever. Our security software will detect this activity if it is attempted and participating accounts can be penalized or removed.
It is illegal for any member to play in more than one Ladder match at a time. In order to prevent playing challenges out of order we ask that all top 5 players play on open protected tables .
In 'free for all' matches…or matches in which multiple opponents are all competing against each other without partners each of the losers of the match reports a loss to the one overall winner.
When playing games with more than one opponent it is important that losses are reported in the proper order if rank will be affected by the order of report. You must report to the highest ranking opponent first in those cases. It is your responsibility to make sure you report in the correct order when necessary. Not doing so may result in penalty.
If they still have not posted an hour after your E-mail reminder and you see them online playing other matches you should follow the SUPPORT link and submit an unreported match claim against them. Ladder staff will handle the situation from there for you, especially if a top 5 non report.
If, however, you do not see them online after sending your Email reminder you should give them 12-24 hours to post their loss before submitting an unreported match claim against them in order to give them time to receive your E-mail.
You should never harass another user in chat or interrupt their other Ladder matches in an attempt to get them to report. If you see them online giving them one friendly reminder is acceptable, but beyond that you should let Ladder Staff settle the dispute for you.
For more information regarding the proper procedures for handling unreported matches visit the Ladder FAQ.
Abuse of administrators in relation to them doing their jobs in the gaming room or the forums is forbidden. If you are found to be guilty of this your account can be penalized. Remember that they are volunteers dedicating their time to helping improve the quality of the Ladder for all.
If you have a problem with or wish to file a complaint against a administrator please send it via E-mail to soc7ladderhelp@yahoo.com Please include all pertinant information.
If you are certain your opponent is cheating you should leave the match immediately and report the suspicious activity via the SUPPORT link on the Ladder page. You do not need to report the match as a loss. If your opponent submits an unreported match claim against you be sure to reply to the inquiry mail we send you explaining your reasoning or the match will be automatically posted against you.
There are many players available to challenge. It is illegal to continually harass one specific player for a match. If you need a match with a specific person and are having a problem getting it let us know via the SUPPORT link rather than harassing that individual, and we will help you resolve the conflict. We do NOT get involved in personal disputes between two people not involving the ladder.
We encourage you to try to solve problems on your own before bringing it to the staff, but not to the point of creating hardship to yourself or harassing other users. We have one of the best support staffs available on the Internet. If you have a problem we are here to help you.
It is illegal to abuse or harrass another Ladder member. If you are observed being abusive in the gaming room it could result in penalty. Depending upon the extent of the abuse you might not always receive a warning in these cases. It is important to remember that two wrongs do not make a right. In other words, if you are being harrassed by another Ladder member come to us for assistance. Do not take matters into your own hands or return the abuse, or you could find yourself in trouble as well.
Forums : The forum is meant for general discussions and sharing. Any personal attacks, reports of cheating, profanity, posting of grievances, personal disputes, or anything found to be sexually offensive is strongly prohibited and will be pulled immediately and the poster will be warned and account noted.
Lobby : The same above rules apply to the public lobby of the playing area in Social 7 Lounge. People come here to relax and enjoy their games, not to hear bickering and fighting about things they are not involved in. If you have a legitimate complaint on rule breakage, unbecoming member behavior, or a staff complaint, write support and give all the details of the situation.
This ladder does not get involved with personal disputes at all or will not tolerate them being brought into public areas making everyone else uncomfortable.
Number One ranked player have to play at least 10 games per day, or be rung
out of the top 5 to rung 100. (Per day is counted as a Calendar day and not idle
time). 5 of these must be ladder games the remainder may be made up with tournament
games.
Also you should try hard to play as many challenges per day as possible so others
have a chance to climb up the top of the ladder. Holding the #1 spot has more
responsibilities and this spot should be played as much as time allows.
Top 2-5 players have to play at least 6 games per day, or be rung out of the
top 5 to rung 100. (Per day is counted as a Calendar day and not idle time). 3 of
these must be ladder games the remainder may be made up with tournament games.
Also you should try hard to play as many challenges per day as possible, so other
members have a chance to climb the top of the ladder.
If your average playing percentage slips down 25% when in the top 5, it
can
look like you are avoiding games. Without good reason, you could be rung to down to
rung 100.
A player reaching our highest rung of #1 works very hard to get to the top and
while
there, they have a big responsibility to stay as active as they were when climbing
for that position. The more active the top players are, the more chance it gives
everyone else to better their rank. All top 5 players should be playing as many
matches and tourneys as they can when in this position.
We have found that a person being rung to 100 can be back up into top 5 the same
day. Runging to 100 also takes care of avoiding games or challenges while in that
status. ACTIVITY is the key to all ladders. The more active the top 5 players, the
better chance there is for all to achieve the goal of a better rank.
The number one player should play the number two player when ever challenged for the number one spot, as long as both parties are available to play, at the time the challenge is issued. Avoiding 1 vs 2 play will rung both players to 100.
Default games for 1 vs 2 shall be set at best 3/5 games
unless both parties are in agreement of playing a different number of games. This could be best of 7 games down to a one game match. If the #2 ranked player plays and wins the #1 rung in a tournament, a 1v2 match should immediately follow the tournament when ever possible. This is only fair to the #1 player to play an official 1v2 challenge in a best 3 or 5 match, if it has not been already played that day. Remember the idea of this ladder is to have fun and should be played as such.
Top 5 players…MUST open a table when they come in to play and announce it is open for cases in the lobby if time allows for games. The player can then go to the table and (if a top 5 challenger) can ask then. This way a top 5 challengers can be played first in boot order and not missed in the lobby. They can come to your table (first come first serve) when you have opened your top 5 table.
In requesting a top 5 challenge, make it clear it is a challenge and not just requesting a match with the player. "Challenge match please" would let the person know you are challenging and in the top five and you would be played next according to your rank if more then one is given. Do not expect them to know your rank if you are challenging them as rank changes so rapidly.
If a player is registered and checked into a tournament, and there is not time to play the challenge before the tournament starts, try to fulfil the challenge immediately after the tourney. We are all here to have fun, but also have to accommodate challenges and give everyone the respect and the chance to climb the ladder. All top 5 challenges take precedence over regular matches not started
All voluntary rungs will be rung down to rank #150. If you are a Top 5 player requesting a voluntary runging, you will be rung before the next days play. This will help to alleviate avoiding challenges during that day frame. All challenges up to that time shall be played if the requestor continues playing in the gaming room and is challenged. All voluntary rungs must be sent to support mail in writing soc7ladderhelp@yahoo.com. This way we can keep them on file. No voluntary rungs requests will be taken on messenger or in room requests to the administration.
It should go without saying that other Top five players who challenge you should be treated with the utmost respect and courtesy. You should do your best to see that challenges of this nature are played as soon as possible for the benefit of both parties. Avoiding or delaying challenges from other Top five members will result in penalty.
We can't cover every aspect of gaming in our rules. We have tried to be as thorough as possible and cover all the basics. However, just because something is not listed doesn't meant that it is allowed. Use common sense. If it is something that will adversely effect other players and you might think twice about doing it's probably against the rules. Our staff have the final say in such matters. If you have a specific question please feel free to contact us via E-mail.
