KERRY CAPTURES HER
FIRST INDIVIDUAL TITLE!
Season 36 was played in the form of 20 tournaments played intermittently between Thursday 2nd May and Thursday 5th December 2024. The season commenced over a year after Season 35 finished, the longest delay between seasons in the history of UIC Swiss.
Only one time slot was used, 1.30pm EST, instead of the two-tournament format of recent seasons. So the season was extended to 20 weeks rather than 12. Any tournament with a minimum of six players counted towards the standings.
Kerry, who had come close to winning the UIC Swiss Individual title once before and had several third place finishes, led the table for most of the season but let her lead slip as multiple title-winner Nigel clawed back a deficit to lead with one week left. But a good Week 20 by Kerry and a rare 2-3 by Nigel enabled her to take the title for the first time by just one solitary point, one of the closest title races for a long time.
Kerry ended with 209 points and Nigel 208. Carl came third on 165. Congratulations to KERRY on her first win, well deserved for a total of 11 tourney wins (4 outright and 7 shared).
In the Judge Roy Championship, the four UK mainland players formed United Kingdom (replacing regionalised England teams) and they won the team competition with an average of 179.75 points. Team members were Carl, Chele, Kerry and Nigel. Second were the American team of Michelle and Roxey on 128.50. Canada, represented by Ben and Trenn, came third, well behind and Rest of the World fourth.
