250 Contest…Celebrating Americas 250 years
For the month of July, to celebrate our players and America's 250 years we're having a "250" contest. Players will receive firecrackers throughout the month by winning tournaments and by answering Americana questions correctly on specially marked “250” tourneys.
Hosts will not have to do anything for regular tourneys as Justa can get the winners from those tourneys easily enough. The only thing hosts have to do each day is host 1 “250” tourney and ask the daily Americana question. Then that host will email Justa at svowles@bigpond.net.au the name of the player who won that special tournament and the player who got the special tournament Americana question correct.
The good news for hosts is that wonnerful will provide the daily list of Americana questions. On each day one tournament will have that special “250” in the title and the host will ask that days’ Americana question before the beginning of the tournament. And to avoid confusion, the question will correspond with the day of the month. So, for example, on the 5th of July, the host will ask question #5.
At the end of the contest, the person with the most firecrackers will win a one month diamond bundle and the player with the second most firecrackers will win a one month platinum bundle. In the event of 2 players tying for the most firecrackers, both players will win a diamond bundle.
Listed below are all the ways that hosts & players will earn firecrackers:
Ø All hosts are asked to host one tournament per day they host with the “250” term in the title. For example: “250” Blackbooks Only.
Ø All hosts are asked to ask the daily Americana question during the “250” tournament.
Ø All hosts will automatically receive one firecracker for hosting the “250” tournament. And all hosts will receive 3 firecrackers if they host a “250” partners tournament.
Ø No hosts are eligible to answer the Americana question, since we all will have all the answers.
Ø The TOC host will receive 10 firecrackers for hosting the Tournament of Champions which is automatically a special “250” tournament.
Ø Any host that hosts the same day as the Tournament of Champions is also asked to host a “250” tourney for that day.
Ø All players will receive 1 firecracker for every tournament win during the month of July.
Ø All players will receive 1 firecracker for winning a “250” tournament.
Ø The player correctly answering the Americana question in the lobby will receive 3 firecrackers.
Ø If the same player answers the Americana question and wins the tournament, then the total firecrackers received will triple to 12.
Ø If the “250” tournament is a partners’ tournament, then both players receive 3 firecrackers for a correct answer in the lobby to the Americana question, no matter which player answers correctly.
Ø If the “250” tournament is a partners’ tournament, then both players receive 6 firecrackers for winning the tournament.
Ø If the same team answers the Americana question correctly and wins the tournament then both players will receive 18 firecrackers.
Ø The player that wins the Tournament of Champions (in July for June) will receive 10 firecrackers.
Ø The person that answers the special Tournament of Champions Americana question will receive 20 firecrackers.
Ø If the same person answers the special Tournament of Champions Americana question correctly and wins the Tournament of Champions, then that person will receive 40 firecrackers.
Ø wonnerful will send to all hosts the list of daily Americana and the special Tournament of Champions Americana question, which will include both the question and answer.
TIMERS:
The host is responsible for the timer in each round.
This can be via a stopwatch, tourney clock,
an app downloaded to the computer.
As long as minutes and seconds are used.
Player can run their own timer but remember,
the only timer that counts is the one the host runs.
As a courtesy to players, (its not a rule),
the host can announce a 5 minute countdown
in lobby to end of game.
Please do not tell the host that their timer is wrong.
RESTARTS:
This really isn't new.
Restarts will not be allowed
except if game settings are wrong.
This is actually written into a lot of the games.
If you do or do not do something
required in that game’s specific rules,
you must report the loss.
If game settings are correct
and a player makes a mistake, they must report.
And no chatter in the lobby about that
player or team only wanting a win.
This rule has been there the whole time.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Reminding everyone about how we handle
disputes during game play
and our expectations of player behavior:
Hosts follow a set of rules for running tournaments.
The rules are posted on our front page
and under Rules tab.
Hosts are volunteering their time
to run tournaments for our players.
You are not allowed to argue and cause disruptions
in chat during a tournament.
If you have an issue with a how a host
handled something or think something was unfair,
you may click on the Support Tab on our
main page and send in your grievance.
It comes directly to the leadership team.
We will review and respond.
In most cases the host will be supported
in their final decision because
they are the ones doing the work.
Please do not send in something silly.
Players, DO NOT message and argue with hosts
during a tournament, nor in lobby.
It gets nowhere, is considered an
offense and you will get a warning.
On the third warning you will
be timed out for three days.
If you persist after that you can be permanently banned.
It is imperative that we keep the hosts we have,
especially hard-working hosts.
If you do not care for a host,
then do not join their tournament.
There will be hosts or players you do not enjoy
but that is your choice whether you play or not.
Hosts have the choice as well,
if a player is constantly making their hosting miserable,
they can remove them from the tournament,
or worse for all of us, choose not to host.
